About me
Uwe Winkler, born in Kayna, Saxony-Anhalt in 1963, lives and works in Radebeul near Dresden and Berlin.
He has created numerous photo series influenced by American New Topographics and explores landscapes shaped by human activity. Since 2022, Uwe Winkler has been taking part in Kristin Dittrich’s photography mentoring programme at Shift School Dresden Wien Zürich.
In his digital photography, Uwe Winkler follows analogue principles such as tonal range and the interplay of shadows and highlights. On this basis, the photographs remain unaltered, as in the analogue era: he sees what he feels and seeks to bring it from his mind into tangible form through the tool of the camera. His photographs invite viewers to form their own associations.
