The End of a Summer
Heinrich Heine describes the departing summer as a season in which, more than any other, moments of parting weave their way into the days. In his poem “The End of a Summer,” the poet Günter Eich explores transience, the cycle of nature in autumn, and the patient acceptance of death.
In his photographs entitled »Feelings. Feelings. BETWEEN HEAVEN AND EARTH«, Uwe Winkler takes us on a journey through the final weeks of summer. The photographs were taken over a period of ten years. During this time, his mother died unexpectedly at the beginning, and his father passed away at the end. In between came years of caring for his father, slowly saying goodbye, and gathering strength in various places across Europe. Nature »between heaven and earth« becomes a place for reflection and contemplation. The photographs evoke the quiet melancholy of parting, the tender moments of transience and remembrance.
